Soil Capital announces landscape partnership in Argentina to deliver Scope 3 outcomes in peanut supply chains

  • Combines agronomic expertise and MRV to enable credible Scope 3 reporting
  • Initial focus on the peanut sector, with producers covering over 60% of national production through industry collaboration
  • Connects European sourcing demand with Latin American production systems

Córdoba, Argentina, 1st April 2026 – Soil Capital today announces the launch of a regenerative peanut initiative in Argentina, developed with leading agri-food companies, including SAI Platform members Ferrero, Importaco, Intersnack, Lorenz, Mars, PIP & NUT, alongside implementation partners GapGreen and Plataforma Puma.

The initiative reflects a more coordinated, data-driven approach to sourcing – linking on-farm practice change with verified, decision-useful data for reporting. Argentina, as the world’s leading exporter of peanuts and a key supplier to European markets, offers a strategically important test case and represents a key sourcing geography for companies looking to deliver credible Scope 3 outcomes.

The SAI Platform’s Regenerative Landscapes Partnership, the Argentina Peanuts Project, in collaboration with The Peanut Chamber and Fundación Maní Argentino (the Argentine Peanut Foundation), is an industry-wide effort bringing together 10 major suppliers representing over 60% of national production. It builds on an initial phase launched in 2024 across 7,500 hectares and 25 farms to establish a baseline, and now moves forward, focusing on regenerative practices and strengthened monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV).

Peanut production in Argentina presents specific agronomic challenges, including exposure to soil erosion linked to sandy soils and relatively intensive tillage practices. The approach supports producers in implementing practices such as cover cropping and reduced tillage, underpinned by locally adapted protocols.

It operates in a complex measurement environment, where farmland is often rented and historical data is fragmented. Soil Capital has adapted its methodology to track emissions reductions and removals over a three-year cycle, using soil sampling, remote sensing and advanced modelling.

Delivery partner Plataforma Puma, an Argentinian climate-tech company specialising in agricultural MRV, brings deep local expertise across more than 46,000 hectares and 186 farms. Its in-country capabilities underpin robust data collection and farmer engagement, supporting Soil Capital’s programmes with European and US food companies to translate farm-level outcomes into LSRS-aligned Scope 3 reporting.

Chuck de Liedekerke, CEO and Co-Founder of Soil Capital, said: “Delivering Scope 3 outcomes depends on linking what’s happening in the field with what companies need to account for. We structure that link, working with partners who bring the local execution needed to make those outcomes credible at scale.”

The initiative establishes a foundation for further expansion across crops and regions, demonstrating how aligned value chain action can deliver practical impact.
