Early 2025, we organised a field day for our partner ClimateSeed with AXA at Raphaël Musnier’s farm in Courtablon, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre just outside Paris. Raphaël is one of Soil Capital ambassadors, having joined the first cohort in 2021, benefiting from a programme that rewards its regenerative performance. Raphael has implemented environmentally positive practices over the years.

Farm visit

Farming for Resilience & Regeneration

The goal of these visits is to bring our partners and customers on the field to experience how a farmer’s regenerative agriculture transition is deployed in practice and to witness its direct impact on the ecosystems. Raphaël shared his journey towards building a climate-resilient farm, highlighting the key changes he has made. It was truly inspiring to observe the visible improvements on soil health and the presence of diverse insect life underscored the practical benefits of regenerative agriculture.

Our conversations were equally enriching, focusing on how such an agricultural transition can strengthen the resilience of both ecosystems and farming communities. This collaboration between farmers, ClimateSeed, and AXA demonstrates a path towards a more sustainable agricultural system. It aims to restore land, provide responsible food production, and ensure fair valuation for agricultural practices.

Testimonials

"Soil Capital’s program ticks all these boxes. It offers a certified, high-impact, and climate  resilient solution well aligned with AXA’s sustainability and risk mitigation goals."

Anne-Sophie Duret
Environmental Impact Manager – AXA

"I welcomed AXA’s team to my farm so they could see what’s really happening on the ground. As we shared our respective visions, I understood that we were aligned. I’m glad insurance companies support regenerative agriculture, and for me, it’s a concrete added value source."
Raphaël Musnier
Soil Capital French Farmer

"Farmers are the key players in our fight against climate change. Soil Capital was founded on the belief that rewarding them for their regenerative transition is the most effective way to unlock agriculture’s full potential for positive  environmental impact."
Eugénie Zervos
Corporate Partnership Manager – Soil Capital

History with ClimateSeed

A Promising Partnership for Impactful, Certified Carbon Projects

The partnership between Soil Capital and ClimateSeed, launched in 2024, is already showing promising results with several successful Soil Capital certificates sales. ClimateSeed’s clients are primarily drawn to projects that meet, as AXA mentioned, three main criteria:

  • Strong environmental impact: including not just carbon reduction but also co-benefits for biodiversity, soil health, & local communities.

  • Geographic relevance: with projects based in countries where the company operates, with European geography representing a real asset for lots of clients.

  • Robust certification: Soil Capital’s programme is certified against the ISO 14054-2 standard and is audited each year by an independent third-party, TŪV Rheinland. Moreover, our methodology officially is aligned with the GHG Protocol.

Why Regenerative Agriculture Is a Strategic Fit for Insurers Like AXA

For AXA, Soil Capital’s programme brings additional value from an insurance perspective. First, for property insurers, regenerative farming enhances resilience to extreme weather.

  • In floods: minimally disturbed soils absorb water better and resist erosion, while hedgerows help block mudflows.

  • During droughts: practices like cover cropping and reduced tillage improve water retention in the soil.

Second, from a health insurance angle, the reduction of chemical inputs in regenerative farming also lowers air and water pollution, contributing to better public health outcomes.

About Soil Capital

Soil Capital: At the Forefront of Agricultural Transition

Soil Capital is a mission-driven company with deep expertise in regenerative agriculture and a clear goal: to support farmers in regenerating as much land as possible, as fast as possible. With an approach based on transparent agronomic exchanges, Soil Capital rewards farmers by generating and selling Soil Capital Units while going beyond just carbon impact. The environmental benefits include soil health improvement, biodiversity improvement, water retention, as well as carbon storage.

By connecting farmers to food and fiber companies committed to building regenerative supply chains, Soil Capital helps create systemic change. It also enables other companies to contribute to agricultural transformation as part of their net-zero strategies.

Key Impact Figures

Soil Capital is working with 1,800 farmers in France, Belgium and the UK on a total surface area of 500,000 ha. In July 2025, the company rewarded 1,100 of them for nearly €15 million.
